Important Summer School Info
We are excited to kick off another year of summer school on Thursday, May 30.
Bus Transportation: The bus barn will contact you directly with information regarding pickup and drop off times. If you have any specific questions, please contact Transportation at 816-732-6541.
Morning Procedure: Doors will be unlocked at 7:50am.
- Elementary car riders are dropped off on the west side of the elementary. Please note: Holden does not allow parents to walk into the school with students. School staff will be available to help students find their classes.
- Middle and high school car riders will be dropped off at the front doors of the middle school. Students who drive themselves are welcome to park in the front parking lot of the middle school.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch are both provided free of charge for summer school. Your child is welcome to bring their lunch if they do not like the school's menu. Summer school menus are found here: https://myschoolmenus.com/organizations/1807
Afternoon Procedure: Elementary car riders will be picked up in the same place as drop off- the west side of the elementary school. School staff will help direct traffic and escort your child to your vehicle. Middle and high school student car riders can be picked up from the front doors of the middle school.
Early Pick-Up, Late Arrivals, Etc.
If your child is late to school, please drop them off at the elementary office so we can get them checked in. If your child needs to leave early for any reason, please call Megan in the elementary office (816-732-6071) to let us know.
If you need to make transportation changes (example: being picked up instead of riding the bus, etc.) we ask that you please call the elementary office and let us know at least one hour before the end of school. This is enough time to make sure teachers and students are informed of the change in plans.
Attendance Incentives
- If students have perfect attendance for all 24 days of summer school, they will receive a $100 Visa gift card.
- Students who are absent for any reason for any time up to one day will receive a $75 Visa gift card.
- Students who are absent more than one day, up to two days will receive a $50 Visa gift card.
Student who are absent more than two days will not receive a gift card. High school students are not eligible for attendance incentives.
If you have any questions regarding summer school, contact Summer School Principal, April Placht at (816) 732-6071 or by email at aplacht@holdenschools.org
Kindergarten Specific
Supplies: Teachers ask that each student bring a full-size backpack, a change of clothes, a large towel for rest time, and individually packaged snacks to share with the class (enough for 15 students).
Morning drop off: Hugs can be given & goodbyes said on the sidewalk outside the gym before your child joins the rest of the Kindergarten students. Staff will be on hand to help your child find their class and all students will have the chance to eat breakfast.
Afternoon procedure: If your Kindergartener rides the bus, they will be paired with a 5th grade bus buddy to help them board the correct bus. If you need to make transportation changes (example: being picked up instead of riding the bus) we ask that you call the elementary office and let us know at least one hour before the end of the school day. This is enough time to make sure teachers and students are informed of the change in plans.
