6th Grade Counseling

Thank you for visiting my 6th grade counseling page. My name is Kerri Hanneken and I am the 6th grade counselor as well as the Testing Coordinator for the Holden School District. This is my 5th year at Holden Middle School, and I love working with 6th graders. It is such an exciting time for them, moving from the elementary to middle school and learning more independence, responsibility, and autonomy. You'll notice a big change in your child from the beginning of their 6th grade year to the end.

Middle School is also a very difficult time in a child's life. At this age, they begin gravitating to friendships based more on common interests and values. It is difficult and emotional to change friends you may have had for years because you are both growing and changing in different ways. I am here to listen and help them navigate these changes.
