  • Summer School Starts This Week!

Posted by Bekki Currier on 6/1/2021 6:00:00 AM

This week, summer school will begin on Thursday, June 3, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We want to relay some vital information for you and students to be aware of as we get underway. A bus transportation pick up email will be sent later today explaining pick-up times and what bus routes will be running throughout the district. If you are a Kingsville student or using the Kingsville stop, you will be picked up from Kingsville High School at 7:40 a.m. and dropped off at 3:45 p.m. daily during summer school.

We will not require masks or face coverings for students or staff this summer. We will still abide by county and district guidelines in case of any positive cases or incidents. If you have any questions about those guidelines please visit the Johnson County Health (johnsoncountyhealth.org) or Holden School district website (holdenschools.org). During the school day, we will serve Breakfast and Lunch to students. We ask that students come dressed in school appropriate clothing for a typical school day.

If you are picking up or dropping off your student, we ask that if you are new to the district or do not have a district pick up placard to stop by Holden Elementary and pick one up. Pick-up placards help us ensure students are getting in the correct car during dismissal. Also, when picking up students, a single line of vehicles will form down Market Street in front of the elementary. Please obey all driving laws, do not block intersections, and please work with our staff who are helping with dismissal. We will have a designated pick-up zone where students will be brought out to vehicles. If you need additional time to buckle your student in please pull up to a parking spot and secure your student. We ask that you do not stop and do that at the pick-up zone as it causes delays and can create a traffic jam.

As summer school begins if you have any questions, or any changes to your students daily schedule please let us know so we can make sure we have students going to the right places with the right people. Call (816) 732-6071 or email tshumate@holdenschools.org.
