New Assistant Superintendent Joins Holden R-3
Holden R-III School District is proud to announce Dr. Christy Harrison as our new Assistant Superintendent! With more than two decades of experience in education and a passion for student success, Dr. Harrison brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to our district.
Dr. Harrison began her career as a fifth-grade teacher in the Warrensburg School District before teaching in Pleasant Hill. Later she transitioned into administration, serving in roles including as assistant principal, principal, Director of Educational Innovation, and most recently, Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership in Kansas City Public Schools, where she currently oversees a network of 32 schools. In addition to her leadership roles, she has also taught graduate-level education courses and facilitated leadership training for Missouri educators.
Holden's strong sense of community, dedicated educators, and commitment to student success is what drew Dr. Harrison to our district. “Holden is a place where people genuinely care about making a difference for every student,” she shared. “I’m looking forward to working alongside the staff, students, and families to build on the district’s success and create even more opportunities for achievement.”
Her mother is a key source of inspiration in her life. “She leads by example, showing me the power of kindness, hard work, and integrity. Her unwavering dedication to family, community, and serving others has shaped my leadership, reminding me to serve with purpose, lift others up, and stay true to my values.”
Supporting and developing school leaders is one of Dr. Harrison’s greatest professional passions. “Leadership has a powerful influence on school culture, teacher effectiveness, and student achievement,” she said. “Whether through coaching, collaboration, or implementing innovative strategies, I love being part of the process that strengthens schools and improves outcomes for students.”
Outside of work, Dr. Harrison enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, a local real estate agent, and their two children—Reagan, an ICU nurse at University Health, and Carter, a senior at Pleasant Hill High School. Their family, including their beloved dog Stella, loves spending summer days at the lake. She is also an avid reader who is never without a good book. One of her favorites is The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah due to its inspiring theme of perseverance.
“As I transition into this role, I am most looking forward to building strong relationships with the staff, students, and community,” Dr. Harrison said. “Collaboration is key to success, and I’m excited to support educators, enhance student opportunities, and contribute to the district’s continued growth.”
