WHAT IS THE EAGLES NEST PRESCHOOL PROGRAM?
The Eagles Nest Preschool is a fee-based
preschool for children 3 and 4 years old with a curriculum based on
Project Construct. The program is state licensed and accredited for
20 children.
The program began with a district written
grant in the fall of 2002 under the direction of Stephanie
Atkinson. Mrs. Atkinson received her Bachelor's Degree in Early
Childhood from CMSU and her Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching
from Webster University and has been teaching in the Holden school
district for ten years. She will continue teaching in
Holden for the 2007-2008 school year as a Kindergarten
teacher. Melissa Scholljegerdes is the new preschool teacher for
the 2007-2008 school year. She received her Bachelor's Degree in
Early Childhood Special Education from CMSU and taught in Kansas
City, KS, for 9 years. She moved to Holden 2 years ago and is very
excited to teach in the same community where she lives. This will
be her 10th year teaching preschool.
The Eagles Nest teachers believe that high
expectations and rich learning environments challenge students to
reach their full potential. The success of children in the
preschool program depends on both a solid foundation of content
knowledge and the ability to apply it to real situations. Hands-on
learning benefits students of all ages. Learning is a lifelong
journey that adults and children travel together. Parents are the
child's first and primary teacher; therefore, you have a very
important role in the classroom. Family involvement increases the
chances of a student's success, and together, we can prepare our
children for what lies outside the classroom.
