Parents As Teachers: Starting at Birth

July 25, 2006

Education begins at birth, and the Holden R-III School Parents As Teachers (PAT) is designed to help parents respond to a child's earliest educational needs.  All families with children between birth and school age are eligible to participate in PAT. Parents As Teachers is free to all eligible families who live within the school district.

Parents As Teachers offers personal, in-home visits from the school district's parent educator, Delann Lewis; group meetings with other parents to help parents share experiences and gain insight into their child's development and behavior; periodic health and developmental screenings (including vision and hearing); and a monthly storytime at the Elementary School library to help encourage an interest in literacy at the youngest ages.

The PAT parent educator, Delann Lewis, can be contacted through the Elementary School, (816) 850-4444, ext. 3006.
